The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Dara Calleary TD, has launched the 2025 Town and Village Renewal scheme to help revitalise rural towns and villages.
The 2025 TVRS ‘Main Scheme’ is designed to support the revitalisation and resilience of rural Ireland through an ongoing focus on town centre regeneration and enhancing economic and social vibrancy in line with the Town Centre First policy.
Types of projects sought:
Town centre regeneration drivers;
Plaza development;
Green spaces / recreational amenities in town centres;
Enhance streetscapes;
Support markets;
Support infrastructure for markets;
Upgrade / refurbish community centres;
Bring vacant and derelict buildings and sites back into use as multi-purpose community spaces;
Support and enhance the night-time economy;
Enhancement of heritage assets located in towns and villages, including energy efficiency measures.
Grant Level
Grant funding for Main Scheme projects will range from €50,000 to €500,000.
Application Process
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now being sought for projects to be considered for funding. EOI’s will be assessed based on the priorities as contained in the Scheme Outline and preferably linked to actions outlined in the County Cavan Town and Village Revitalisation Plans and/or other town plans where relevant. After the closing date, successful EOI’s will be developed into detailed applications which will be submitted to the Department of Rural and Community Development for consideration for funding.
